Our Mission

More than an apex predator.

We believe we can create the change in the world that we want to see, together. Saving the sharks is a huge mission, but with the help of you and our partner organizations we are one great step closer.

Our passion for sharks goes deep. They are the most important animal at the center of the most important ecosystem. We want to do what we can to save sharks from extinction and stop the fin trade by donating 10% of net profits to Shark Allies and Save the Sharks.

There is power in numbers. Together we can protect the fin!

What Laws are there Against Shark Finning?

  • Each country and territory with a coastline is responsible for having their own laws and regulations for fishing.
  • In the United States, the federal government passed the Shark Conservation Act (SCA) in 2010. This law requires fishermen in US waters to bring sharks in with their fins attached. While the SCA prohibits anyone in US waters from finning, fins from sharks caught in US waters are still sold after they are cut off once on land.
  • Currently, in the United States there is an active piece of legislation, H.R.737 - Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act of 2019. If enacted into law it will be illegal to buy or sell shark fins in the US. Finning is already illegal in US waters, but eliminating the trade of fins from the US would decrease finning elsewhere.
  • Only 13 US states have placed bans on the shark fin trade.

The following 38 states do NOT have bans on the trade or possession of shark fins: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansa, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

What else can I do now?

Look to shop at companies (like us!) that have products with a purpose. Also, shop responsibly by knowing what products are harmful and what to avoid. Stay away from shark cartilage supplements, chondroitin, shark skin dog chews, squalene in capsules and check where your squalene ingredient in make-up products comes from. Shark tooth jewelry can also be harmful, you never know the true source or method of obtaining the teeth. Look a little deeper into the company before you buy. Lastly but definitely not least, do not support restaurants with shark fin soup on the menu.
